Lead Artist

As one of the most popular PC games today, League of Legends is reshaping PC gaming and core gamers perception of virtual goods.  Riot Games (named a Top 30 developer by Game Developer Magazine), the publisher and developer of League of Legends, is experiencing a period of rapid growth, doubling the size of the company in the past year.  With several million players in their first game across the US and Europe, and numerous awards (including IGN.com’s Readers' Choice for Best Multiplayer Game for League of Legends), Riot Games has pioneered new ground with their debut title and is continuing to aggressively expand.

Currently, we have a great opportunity for a Lead Artist in our Los Angeles, CA office. If you want to work in a fast-paced, creatively challenging high-tech environment, this is the place for you.

The ideal candidate must have a passion for games, be able to manage and lead artists, both local and remote. Applicants must also be able to remain positive and work effectively and efficiently in a team-oriented environment.

As a Lead Artist you will be responsible for driving overall concept design and defining artistic style to ensure a highly polished look. You must possess good organizational skills, strong leadership skills, and have demonstrated exceptional technical skills while in a similar role on at least one shipped PC or web game.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience defining the art style and concept for a game
  • 3+ years game industry experience in an artist or lead artist role
  • A strong portfolio with experience with multiple disciplines i.e. environments, effects, animation, characters, concepting, etc.
  • Ability to aesthetically coach an in-house team as well as an outsourced team
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with remote team members
  • Knowledge of game production pipeline

  • 4-6 years of game industry experience in an artist or lead artist role
