Senior Back-End Web Developer

Building on this success, Riot Games is looking for multiple creative Senior Back-end Web Developers to help us build a rapidly growing, community focused web property that’s at the cutting edge of technology. As part of the Riot Games web team you will not find yourself working on pre-packaged or pre-determined solutions, but instead collaborating with our team to identify new and creative ways to scale one of the fastest growing websites in the world.  We are self-organized, self-motivated, and the drivers of our own solutions.  

About the Job

  • Identify customer requirements design and  develop scalable solutions for the enhancement of new and existing features for leagueoflegends.com,  in game store, and the web platform
  • Develop, maintain and enforce technology standards and best practices
  • Measure & optimize software performance
  • Drive technical direction  and project leadership in an Agile environment
  • Identify new/remove processes for the team
  • Mentor and guide junior team members
  • Ability to manage your time effectively and meet development timelines
  • Drive results and accountability with multi-team projects
  • Focused on results, not hours invested
  • Boil up feedback about the game/platform in company playtests

About You

Experienced with: 

  • Expert level knowledge of core web technologies: PHP & Javascript (multiple libraries)
  • Expert in Object Oriented Principles, design patterns & optimization
  • Unix

Understanding of:

  • Best practices with relational databases (normalization, sharding, optimization)
  • Best practices with security (XSS)
  • N-tier and Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA), REST
  • Testing practices including regression, acceptance, functional, and load testing (Selenium, Hudson, PHPUnit, JMeter, Whitebox Tester)
  • You are excited about the new ideas Riot brings to the web space
  • You are legally authorized or able to obtain legal authorization to work in the US
