Volunteer Program Manager

Riot Games currently has a great opportunity for a Volunteer Program Manager for League of Legends. The Volunteer Program Manager will assist the Lead Community Manager in building multiple well-organized volunteer programs for League of Legends.

The ideal candidate should have experience building and managing online gaming communities, as well as past experience managing a small team of project managers responsible for creating and maintaining programs that generate value utilizing the assistance of volunteers. Success in this role relies on the solid understanding of a self-sustaining volunteer structure, an understanding of player behavior, combined with the ability to develop creative, innovative and compelling programs that derive value from fans willing to volunteer their time.  This candidate should also have excellent writing and verbal communication skills, strong work ethic, have an extremely positive attitude and open to the idea that pie is superior to cake.

Responsibilities:

  • Determine and drive the overarching strategy for the League of Legends volunteer program
  • Manage a small team of individuals that build and maintain various volunteer programs
  • Identify areas of improvement and determine program growth opportunities and needs
  • Collaborate with production, design, web, marketing, and other internal departments to ensure that volunteers stay informed of company priorities and activities
  • Communicate directly with players to building strong relationships and identify potential volunteers  
  • Create new ways to leverage existing volunteers in a way that adds value to the program
  • Coordinate with production, development, and marketing teams to develop community and website features

Requirements:

  • 2+ years in a Community or Project/Program Management role, and at least one year experience managing people
  • Previous experience working with commercial forum software such as vBulletin
  • Hard-working, goal-oriented individual with a strong passion for online gaming, online communities, social networking and web content
  • Ability to generate innovative ideas and work with minimal guidance
  • Passionate for League of Legends and its community
