STL Game Jam

What they do

The STL Game Jam is part of the Global Game Jam (GGJ), which is the world's largest game jam event taking place around the world at physical locations. Over the years it has grown to be the 9th biggest in the world and third biggest in the United States as of 2018. The GGJ is an idea that a community can come together, be creative, share experiences and express themselves in a multitude of ways using video games. This takes over a 48 hour development cycle and stirs a global creative buzz in games, while at the same time exploring the process of development, be it programming, iterative design, narrative exploration or artistic expression.

How we're helping

In St. Louis, we have partnered with the STL Game Jam since 2013 and have collaborated with the the St. Louis Game Developer Co-Op and collaborated with  University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) to help level-up the Game Jam experience for all walks of life. As part of our previous sponsorships, we have built a hangout space where creators could share ideas with other participants, meet and engage other jammers, and also take a break to unwind. At 2018 Game Jam, we focused on providing a larger space for team collaboration and mentored jammers before they went on their game making journey. Rioters have participated as well and have created several games alongside hundreds of other jammers at the event.
