The Esports team is focused on delivering amazing fan experiences through our global events and regional competitions. Our professional and semi-professional competitive tiers in League of Legends, VALORANT and Wild Rift involve thousands of players and hundreds of organizations competing every week.

As our Sr. Director, Americas Esports Territory Lead you will work closely with our senior product leaders to operationalize our product strategy and vision to meet Riot's ambitious esports goals for the Americas territory (North America, Brazil, and LatAm). You will partner with functional leaders to ensure that strategy is resourced appropriately and executed with excellence. You will be responsible for providing management, guidance and mentorship to a diverse team, developing new processes and approaches to work as we launch and scale the biggest and most innovative sport products for our fans. You will foster collaboration and uphold financial rigor to ensure we are creating sustainable business practices that support the ecosystems we build. This role reports to the Head of Esports Operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads Riot’s esports operations in the Americas driving operational efficiency while delivering value to esports fans.
  • Partners with senior esport leaders to translate product vision to measurable milestones and deliverables, set financial and operational performance metrics and targets and drive results against strategic priorities
  • Informs annual planning exercises and utilizes local market expertise to identify opportunities/major investments to support esports product strategy in the territory.
  • Prioritizes the Americas esports initiatives, identifies cross-region and cross-sport synergies, and acts as an escalation point to manage cross-regional issues
  • Manages territory’s P&L and allocates resources accordingly; Responsible for executing and measuring financial strategy for the Americas Esports
  • Manages the tracking of the Americas Esports data; Ensures insights are shared across the organization
  • Builds strategy for entering new regions and expanding footprint in existing regions in alignment with esports goals. 
  • Ensures the Americas esports leagues are economically sustainable and partnerships with teams are strong
  • Builds and manages a high performing, regionally diverse team; Recruit and mentor key team members in key leadership positions and foster a diverse and growth-oriented team environment

Required Qualifications:

  • 12+ years of experience in general management/operational leadership roles within gaming, sports, or media industries
  • 8+ years of experience managing complex, multi-function teams, and organizational administration; including experience in the management of distributed teams
  • Experience managing P&Ls, effectively allocating resources and tracking financial goals and performance
  • Experience driving results through strategy; Operational rigor combined with excellent business acumen, problem-solving, project management, and analytical skills
  • Outstanding relationship-building and communication skills and experience working with business stakeholders within a cross-functional matrix environment
  • Language: English
  • Travel required: Approximately one week per month
  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field

Desired Qualifications:

  • Understanding of esports ecosystems

  • MBA or other relevant advanced degrees

  • Languages: Spanish and Portuguese
