Riot engineers bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas but also value the chance to work in many broader domains. As an Engineering Manager, you’ll predominantly offer creative solutions to organizational design. You’ll also serve as a mentor for a team of engineers, overseeing performance management, growth opportunities, and accountability.
As the Manager, Systems Engineering for Developer Connections, your mission is to streamline collaboration and the development process for Rioters worldwide. Developer Connections (DevCon) connects developers around the globe allowing them to create and ship games reliably and efficiently. We sit at the intersection of Game Studios, R&D, and Central Tech, allowing us to keep our fingers on the pulse of development across Riot. Our aim is to unblock teams so they can hit essential milestones for launching features and future games. You will do this by maintaining, scaling, and advancing source control offerings that are critical to Riot’s game development lifecycle. These systems are Perforce, GitHub, and Artifactory and are the foundations as to how Riot collaborates. You’ll work with a multitude of teams across the globe including game teams, creative, security, publishing, and outside studios. You will need to understand and balance the needs of these various teams to provide one cohesive experience that ultimately accelerates the Riot game development experience.
Responsibilities:
- Own the roadmap; you understand your customers and their specific needs, industry trends and changes, and where to align your roadmap with other central efforts
- Manage the team; you own performance management, team health, and support the engineers’ careers through mentorship and identifying growth opportunities
- Drive positive outcomes for customers; customers see your team as vital to their success. This includes proactive communication with customers and stakeholders, prioritizing value over idealism, and fostering a culture of accountability
- You ensure that your team always understands the “why” and is able to connect their work back to DevCon and Riot’s mission. DevCon often pushes into uncharted territory, you provide the clarity to help the team navigate uncertainty
- Keeping the lights on; you’re committed to keeping systems operationally globally and own a healthy on-call rotation
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
- 7+ years of industry experience
- 2+ years of management experience
- Experience serving in a product ownership role
- Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure concepts and applications
- Experience working with globally distributed systems
Desired Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of AWS
- Extensive knowledge of Perforce and/or GitHub
- Experience shipping games
- Entrepreneurial experience

- (Los Angeles Only) Base salary range between $168,300.00 - $235,200.00 USD + incentive compensation + equity + 401K with company match + medical, dental, vision, and life insurance + short and long-term disability + open PTO.
