As a Researcher, you’ll join the Insights discipline – the group of researchers and analysts responsible for solving problems and executing analyses that enable Rioters to make difficult decisions with confidence. You’ll work closely with Rioters from other disciplines (publishing, finance, commercial operations, etc.) to conduct studies and analyses that will inform the features, systems, and experiences of our products. Your research background coupled with your deep understanding of data will ensure that you’re an effective advocate for players and can provide strategic guidance about their wants, needs, and behaviors.

 

Role Description:

As a Researcher on the EMEA Insights team, you will be tasked with diving into highly ambiguous problem spaces, applying a variety of research methods in innovative ways, and collaborating closely with our regional Publishing and Enterprise leads, stakeholders, external research agencies and other Insights Rioters embedded throughout the company to improve our understanding of our player audience and potential audiences.  

 

You will be accountable for supporting market research efforts (quantitative and qualitative), and for driving opportunities at the regional level for EMEA, including market landscape and brand tracking, top-of-funnel product health metrics, audience sizing and profiling, and anything else necessary to measure our regional level goals and commitments. You will synthesize new and existing data into actionable insights about our products, brands, relevant competitors and conditions emerging in our regional markets to inform strategy in EMEA. 

 

This role requires a willingness to work alongside regional leadership in evaluating our existing portfolio, and determining how we can further develop and market top-tier games and products. Performance in this role requires creativity, willingness to try, fail, and try again at a new approach until it’s working.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute projects that improve our understanding of the gamer audience in order to grow the audience and increase audience investment in our various IPs
  • Generate and socialize regional market research to understand gamer preferences
  • Collaborate with central research teams to understand what other research projects are in flight
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and regional insights teams 
  • Design/moderate focus groups as needed internally or with help of an external agency
  • Generate actionable recommendations for brand/growth strategy
  • Share your results with other Rioters and leaders in clear, illustrative presentations

Required Qualifications:

  • BA or BS in Psychology, Economics, or other research or social science discipline
  • 4+ years of experience in quantitative market research
  • Expertise in writing and fielding surveys for understanding sentiment, needs, and preferences 
  • Strong hypothesis-driven experimentation skills with emphasis on quant research techniques. Comfort/familiarity with helping a team test, learn, and iterate
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to structure out nebulous spaces
  • Advanced capability in analysis software (SPSS, R or Excel, etc.)

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience conducting market research or collaborating with market research vendors
  • Experience within the tech, gaming or media/entertainment industry
  • Familiarity with statistical methods for data analysis, such as clustering analysis, Conjoint, MaxDiff, or similar
  • Comfortable designing/leading user discussions or moderating focus groups
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and has a creative mindset
