Riot engineers bring deep knowledge of specific technical areas but also value the opportunity to work in a variety of broader domains. As a Software Engineer, you’ll also dive into projects that focus on team cohesiveness and cross-team objectives. You’ll drive important features and provide other engineers with a clear illustration of extraordinary engineering.

As a Staff Software Engineer focused on multiplayer gameplay for an unreleased product, you will collaborate with a small, cross-functional team of designers, artists, producers, and engineers to define core product features and deliver high-quality player experiences. You will work closely with designers to rapidly iterate on networked gameplay features, from early prototyping within the engine to implementation of robust, production-ready systems. You will leverage your expertise across the full software development lifecycle to help prepare and ship the game to a mass market while maintaining a strong focus on delivering an exceptional gameplay experience. The ideal candidate is passionate, driven, and wants to guide the technical vision of this area of the game. You will report to the Engineering Manager for the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Implement real-time networked gameplay systems, features, and content for a new title
  • Be a trusted collaborator, working closely with art, design, and other disciplines on the team
  • Lead and contribute to architecture requirements, technical design, and implementation for relevant systems
  • Make substantial contributions to the codebase
  • Mentor other engineers on the team in all aspects of game development

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of gameplay development experience in a C-style game engine (Unreal Engine, Unity, etc)
  • 2+ years of experience working on a networked game
  • Fluency in C++
  • BS in Computer Science, or proven understanding of Computer Science fundamentals
  • Strong knowledge of common game and software design patterns
  • Experience collaborating with teammates across multiple disciplines

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with UE4 and/or UE5
  • Experience developing and shipping a AAA title
  • Experience with agile development

  • (Los Angeles Only) Base salary range between $192,500.00 - $269,400.00 USD + incentive compensation + equity + 401K with company match + medical, dental, vision, and life insurance + short and long-term disability + open PTO.
