Software Engineering, Protect - Infrastructure

The Infrastructure group at Riot collaborates with our game teams to build the foundation that enables our games to operate globally and securely at scale, ensuring the highest levels of infrastructure performance, availability, application delivery, and quality for our players. As a Software Engineer on the Infrastructure Team (Protect), you’ll be part of a team that is focused on developing solutions to ensure the secure, scalable operations of Riot's global network backbone and UDP game traffic in collaboration with other infrastructure and game teams. You will report to the Manager of Software Engineering on the team.
Responsibilities:
- Break down and independently execute on work with general direction from team tech leadership
- Adhere to quality design, coding standards, and general engineering best practices
- Continually look for efficiency and improvement opportunities, propose solutions, and participate in code reviews
- Work with team technical leadership to ensure successful implementation
- Build healthy relationships with other engineers on the team
- Participate in routine, emergent, and on-call work including analysis focused on uptime, SLAs, and RCAs
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience as a software engineer with focus on infrastructure or tooling in a fast-paced, large-scale environment
- Experience with full software development life cycle
- Experience in one or more object oriented languages (e.g. Go, C++, Python, Java)
- Experience with large-scale cloud and/or physical infrastructure ecosystems
- Understanding of core infrastructure services, distributed systems, microservices, and software at a large scale
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in fast-paced and matrixed organizations
- Experience operating and supporting agile development, production services, and high availability
- Experience developing using cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP) using containers and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes), managed using infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi)
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Argo CD)
- Experience working with the Linux kernel
- Strong understanding of networking - HTTP down to the network layer (TCP/IP, routing, DNS, etc.)

- (Los Angeles Only) Base salary range between $136,300.00 - $190,800.00 USD + incentive compensation + equity + 401K with company match + medical, dental, vision, and life insurance + short and long-term disability + open PTO.
