As a Network Engineer in the Event Engineering Technology team operating in a high-pressure, zero-latency environment, where the network is the playing field, you will help shape the transition of the network that powers Riot’s esports events around the world. You will be aprt of driving the planning, execution, and maintenance of a new network. With an understanding that we support both Global and Regional events, you will need to iterate on scalable designs that can be deployed easily in the best of times, or efficiently execute disaster recovery workflows in the worst of times. 

Expected travel is up to 10% per year to familiarize yourself with global events.

Responsibilities:

Automation & Orchestration of

    • Deployment Workflows: Develop "Day 0/1" provisioning for Cisco (IOS/NX-OS) and Palo Alto (PAN-OS) using industry standard tools and scripting languages.
    • Self-Service Tooling: Build API-driven tools (Python/Flask/FastAPI) that allow non-technical staff to safely manage port toggling, VLAN assignments, and PoE status.
    • Vendor-Agnostic Architecture: Design architecture using abstraction layers (e.g., NetBox, Jinja2) to ensure automation logic is portable across future hardware vendors.

Infrastructure Engineering & Support

    • Tier 3 Support: Serve as the senior escalation point for the core environment, including Cisco Switching/Wireless, Palo Alto Firewalls, and Cisco UCS.
    • Event Streamlining: Standardize the "Golden Image" for event networking, ensuring consistent security posture and performance.
    • Documentation as Code: Maintain rigorous documentation, within the automation logic and READMEs to ensure consultants can support events.

Required Technical Qualifications:

  • Networking & Compute
    • 5 Years enterprise experience with Layer 2/3 , Firewalls and policing.
  • Automation & Programming
    • Scripting: Ability to write clean, reusable code.
    • APIs: Experience consuming APIs to bridge disparate systems.
    • CI/CD: Experience with version control and CI/CD pipelines to test network changes before they hit production.
