Andrei van Roon

Andrei van Roon serves as the Head of League Studio overseeing and supporting development across League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, and Wild Rift. He is responsible for managing League Studio's development teams, driving key decisions regarding the games' futures, and working to evolve our IP Strategy as we continue to develop and expand the lore around Runeterra.

Prior to stepping into this new role, Andrei served as Vice President of Game Direction and Game Director of League of Legends where he built the initial team for Teamfight Tactics and oversaw the production for the first couple of months of the project before the teams were split into separate games. Andrei first joined Riot as a designer on League's Champion team, helping develop and create Ziggs, Varus, and Lissandra, among others. 

Born in New Zealand, Andrei studied at the  University of Auckland and worked for a number of years as a Transportation Analyst and Urban Planner in Auckland before moving to the United States. He brought his analytical expertise and applied that to designing champions in Riot’s early years.
