Staff Software Engineer- League of Legends, Around Game Foundations

As a software engineer, you'll also dive into projects that focus on team cohesiveness and cross-team goals. You'll lead without authority and provide other engineers with a clear illustration of extraordinary engineering.
As a Staff Software Engineer on League of Legends, you’ll work with your engineering team to enable developers to create new around-game experiences that excite our new and long term players. You will report to the team’s Engineering Manager and work in a hybrid environment from our Los Angeles office.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain services integration layers that allow UI teams to reliably consume platform services data
- Lead technical design and implementation of systems leveraging your subject matter expertise in services integration
- Partner with UI engineers across teams to design core client systems and reusable UI components
- Teach other engineers services integration patterns to standardize how services are integrated into around game features
- Consult with backend engineers to integrate experiences with various complex microservices
- Give input on the evolution of the existing proprietary UI development framework used to build UI in League of Legends
- Ensure exceptional code quality by adhering to engineering excellence which includes: code maintainability, quality, monitoring, code reviews, and documentation
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of game development experience
- 4+ years of professional experience in C++
- Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and software at a high scale
- Experience shipping software that deploys on a range of different platforms
- Experience collaborating across disciplines (e.g. Design, Art, QA, Production)
- Experience implementing software engineering best practices within your team, including design reviews, coding standards, code reviews, and testing
- Product sense, pragmatism, and player empathy in making tech decisions
- BS in Computer Science, or proven understanding of Computer Science fundamentals
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience playing League of Legends or strong motivation to learn and play
- Subject matter expertise building UI in games, including thorough understanding of common UI and software design patterns (e.g. MVC, MVVM)
