As an Infrastructure Manager at Riot, you'll possess a blend of technical and interpersonal skills that allow you to build a highly functioning engineering team. You don't shy away from getting in the weeds and have breadth of experience in Datacenter Networking, Provider Networking, Linux, Windows, Databases, or Datacenters. Infrastructure Managers apply their expertise to drive the technical vision and direction of various infrastructure products, while also building strong relationships with teams across Riot to ensure your team is delivering value to developers and players.

As a Manager, Infrastructure Engineering on the Infrastructure Reliability team, you will report to the Senior Engineering Manager and lead a team responsible for building infrastructure solutions that ensure the reliable, scalable, and secure operation of Riot’s global compute footprint. You will support your team as they partner with central technology and game teams to solve critical problems across Riot’s compute platforms. You will support operational excellence across the team, including participation in on-call processes and incident response best practices. You will guide investments in tooling and platforms that simplify how internal teams consume cloud infrastructure. Your technical judgment will help guide automation investments, scalable infrastructure patterns, and operational improvements. You will mentor junior and senior systems, cloud, and software engineers while fostering a culture of accountability, growth, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of 4–10 cloud, systems, and software engineers, including coaching, performance management, career development, and maintaining high standards for operational excellence and delivery quality.
  • Manage the health and performance of the engineering team. You will lead with empathy and authenticity, building trust and inspiring your team to overcome challenges.
  • Contribute across the employee lifecycle, including recruiting, hiring, performance management, mentorship, and career development.
  • Stay engaged with your team’s technology and architecture by overseeing technical design decisions and partnering closely with the team’s technical lead.
  • Grow healthy relationships with other engineering teams at Riot to foster cross-team collaboration.
  • Ensure your team delivers reliable, maintainable, and operationally sound infrastructure solutions aligned with Riot’s engineering standards and player needs. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of experience as an infrastructure engineer or in a role directly supporting infrastructure engineering teams
  • 3+ years of experience managing an engineering team
  • Expertise in cloud computing with a particular focus on AWS technologies
  • Expertise in Linux systems administration
  • Experience working with Python or Golang
  • Expertise in project management, prioritization frameworks, and guiding investment strategies in people and systems.
  • Experience delivering on multi-month or multi-year projects, establishing clear deliverables and reporting on progress.
  • Experience collaborating across multiple teams and prioritizing work efforts.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure services, distributed systems, microservices, and software design at high scale.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Expertise in supporting agile development and operating production services
  • Experience in product development and management
  • Experience with networking
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines

  • (Los Angeles Only) Base salary range between $176,700.00 - $247,000.00 USD + incentive compensation + equity + 401K with company match + medical, dental, vision, and life insurance + short and long-term disability + open PTO.
