Every product team has to manage deadlines and priorities when building out their roadmaps. It’s easy to lose track of what’s important; the community. That’s why on April Fool's we want to take the time to create an experience just for developers, minus the trickery.

This year, we built an homage to old-school gaming, and tucked some bad comedy in there. Of course, these are all Alpha Features so they might be a little rough around the corners. We hope you’ll enjoy playing it as much as we enjoyed making it.

What is it?

Some of you may remember MUDs. For those that are not aware of this gaming format, Multi-User Dungeons are adventures that ask the player to solve a series of puzzles and challenges using only text commands. Think: Choose-Your-Own-Adventure books, but digital.

A few of us on the team love MUDs, and since we’re clearly not the best artists at Riot, this format seemed ideal to deliver the comedy gold that you all deserve. So, we’ve made one for you! (sort of)

What we’ve done is create an Escape Room. A single room that is host to a few items that you can inspect. These items carry clues to a final solution, and we’re turning to you guys to put all of these clues together. The result will be a string that you can enter to win the game!

To participate, head over to the Developer Portal, but be quick about it. We’ll be keeping track of the first several thousand players who escape the room and also displaying a list of recent escape artists.
