Eric Danker
Eric Danker is Head of Technology at Riot Games, where he leads the technology capabilities that help Riot build, ship, and operate games for players around the world. His focus includes developer platforms, live operations, anti-cheat, data, AI, and the technical foundations that support reliable, high-quality player experiences across Riot’s portfolio.
Eric first joined Riot in 2010 and has held leadership roles across platform engineering, engineering productivity, early R&D, and Central Technology. Over that time, he helped scale League of Legends during a period of rapid growth, led work to extract shared platform services for future Riot games, and helped shape the operating model behind Riot’s Technology organization.
Before returning to lead Riot Technology in 2024, Eric served as Chief Technology Officer at Roar Studios and Senior Vice President of Engineering at Yuga Labs. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Eric’s love of technology spawned from his love of video games where he got started at age 5 on an Atari 2600 as well as fiddling with CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT to squeeze out every KB of memory to get games running on the family’s PC (Intel 286).
He's based in St. Louis with his wife Jen and their two sons. When he's not working, you'll find him smoking brisket low and slow, tinkering with his homelab, and chasing better sound through a good pair of headphones.
